JATE (Japan Approvals Institute for Telecommunications Equipment) is the main authority for technology compliance certification of telecommunications equipment in Japan.

The compliance certification, called JATE certification, is a requirement under technical regulations for all communication equipment connected to the telecommunication network. JATE certification is mandatory, and the certification authority is a registered certification authority accredited by MIC.
