Reliability Test for 5G Universal Module (Electrical and Integrated Reliability Tests)

2021-02-02 14:08:52

Reliability test is performed to evaluate the functional reliability of 5G modules in all expected environments of operation, transport or storage within their specified life spans, thereby analyzing the module performance.

Electrical reliability specification deals with the following tests: (1) HV and LV overload tests - Simulate the operating state of DUT above specified operating voltages; for instance, the input operating voltage of industry terminal-oriented 5G universal module is higher or lower than prescribed operating voltage for a short time. (2) Power interruption test - Simulate the operating state of DUT in case of power interruption; for example, industry terminal-oriented 5G universal modules experience short-time power interruption. (3) Power offset test - Simulate the operating state of DUT in case of power offset; for example, the input operating voltage for industry terminal-oriented 5G universal module deviates from the defined operating voltage for a short time. The standard test environment is restored after the prescribed harsh environment; in the standard test environment, the performance test of DUT shall comply with relevant requirements. Upon completion of specified tests, the DUT shall be subject to terminal conformance tests as per 3GPP 38.521-1, 38.521-2, and 38.521-3, and meet the indicator specifications of 3GPP 38.101-1, 38.101-2, and 38.101-3, as well as the performance requirements on throughput and power consumption.

Tests on specification for integrated reliability: (1) Corner test - Verify the DUT operating characteristics under combined conditions of temperature & humidity and voltage variation. DUT performance tests in the environment of prescribed severity level shall comply with relevant requirements. (2) Low-temperature integrated test at low atmospheric pressure - Simulate the exposure of DUT to the specified low-temperature operating state with power supply at low atmospheric pressure; for example, industry terminal-oriented 5G universal modules function at low ambient temperatures and low atmospheric pressures. DUT performance tests in the environment of prescribed severity level shall comply with relevant requirements. The operating performance of DUT shall meet specified performance requirements during and after tests. Down completion of specified tests, the DUT shall be subject to terminal conformance tests as per 3GPP 38.521-1, 38.521-2, and 38.521-3, and meet the indicator specifications of 3GPP 38.101-1, 38.101-2, and 38.101-3, as well as the performance requirements on throughput and power consumption.

SIMCom has been actively involved in ecological collaboration for 5G modules. Since the launch of the GTI S-Module Universal Modul Program, we have draught the 5G Module Standard White Paper, participated in the 5G Lofty Ambition Program, established our own 5G R&D Center, and joined the 5G Autonomous Driving Alliance. Furthermore, SIMCom is also actively deploying its China Chip Program by negotiating with several chip manufacturers about partnership in 5G module. With the freezing of the R16 standard, SIMCom will launch its R16 standard modules next year. For commercialization of 5G modules, SIMCom has launched intensive cooperation with industry partners like China Mobile, China Telecom, BOE, Suzhou Pengxun, Coolpad, etc. in UAV, big video, robot, CPE, laptop, and other 5G areas, having introduced an array of solutions.
