From March 11 to 13, SIMCom participated in the Embedded World Exhibition & Conference in Nuremberg, Germany, one of the largest global events for the embedded systems community. In the realm of 5G AIoT, SIMCom unveiled a comprehensive selection of solutions tailored for high-speed applications such as smart transportation. Alongside its well-established 5G modules—SIM8270 (based on the Snapdragon® X72 5G Modem-RF System) and SIM8390 (based on the Snapdragon® X75 5G Modem-RF System), both featuring LGA packaging and 3GPP Rel-17 compliance—SIMCom also showcased the Advanced 5G RedCap A8230 series. The A8230 series, designed for both smart and industrial applications, offers LGA+LCC packaging for cost-effectiveness and quicker deployment. Supporting 5G SA and NR/LTE dual-mode with wide signal coverage (450MHz - 6GHz), the A8230 is ideal for CPE, MiFi, UFi, wearables, POS systems, walkie-talkies, intelligent monitoring, and industrial sensing terminals.
Smart Modules: AI-Enhanced Intelligence
SIMCom expanded its smart module portfolio with the introduction of the SIM8965 LTE Cat 4 smart module, which combines multimedia and AI functionalities. Powered by Qualcomm's SM6115 platform and an 8-core Kryo 260 processor, the SIM8965 allows for real-time data processing, multimedia interaction, and AI-driven decision-making. Its robust connectivity and multimedia capabilities enable advanced applications such as image recognition, voice commands, and real-time analytics, making it a perfect fit for next-gen smart devices.
Another key highlight was the SIM9650L-W AI smart module, built on the QCM6490 chipset. Designed for edge computing and AI applications, it features an octa-core 64-bit ARM processor, an Adreno™ 643 GPU, and a Hexagon Tensor Accelerator, delivering over 14 TOPs of AI processing power. With support for high-resolution cameras, dual displays, and improved data transfer, the SIM9650L-W seamlessly integrates AI capabilities into various IoT applications while maintaining high performance, efficiency, and data privacy.
Enhancing GNSS for IoT Positioning
SIMCom continues to drive innovation in GNSS technology, expanding its applications in smart logistics, wearables, and automotive industries. The SIM65M-C module offers low-power consumption, high-precision positioning, and multi-satellite compatibility, including GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo, and QZSS. By leveraging ICOE's high-sensitivity navigation engine, this module supports 64 receiver channels to enhance real-time tracking, making it an excellent solution for asset management and smart logistics.
Additionally, SIMCom presented the SIM32EA, a module designed for low-power location tracking. Integrating AIROHA’s AG3352Q platform, the SIM32EA ensures precise multi-satellite signal acquisition with minimal energy consumption. This makes it ideal for battery-powered devices such as wearables, tracking devices, and fleet management solutions, offering a balance between efficiency and accuracy for seamless IoT positioning.
