The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 has upset many plans. As a result, SIMCom proactively adjusted its deployment of staff for overseas exhibitions. For the Embedded World 2020 that held on Feb. 24 in Nuremberg, Germany, SIMCom booth was completely staffed by the company’s overseas foreign employees, aiming to minimize the impact of COVID-19.
SIMCom’s 5G modules have been displayed. SIMCom 5G modules in the SIM8200 and SIM8300 series based on Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G modem platform, support SA and NSA network deployments. They have successively enabled data service in real 5G NSA networks. In the meantime, drones carrying SIMCom 5G modules, negative-pressure ambulances and power patrol robots carrying the SIM7600CE-T module have been put to use in the forefront of the war against COVID-19, supporting epidemic prevention and control.
In addition, SIMCom exhibited a vehicle-mounted smart antenna, which is jointly developed with a world-leading designer and manufacturer of automotive antenna systems and vehicle-mounted television tuners. Our partner is a global leader in the world of automotive receiving systems. Its products include simple and complex vehicle-mounted multipurpose antenna receiving systems, as well as various system applications for future vehicle-to-vehicle communication. The 4G/5G C-V2X vehicle-mounted smart antenna exhibited this time carries SIM8100 and SIM7800E vehicle-mounted modules from SIMCom. SIM8100 is a C-V2X module, which supports C-V2X connection through the PC5 interface. It’s applicable to vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) applications.
SIMCom CEO Yang Tao said: “due to COVID-19, many of our excellent overseas colleagues failed to be present at the booth, but SIMCom's service will not fall behind. We will not flinch. SIMCom has offices around the world, which are staffed with our outstanding foreign colleagues. They will be there for our customers, providing remarkable customer service, while our domestic colleagues will provide strong support for them. We believe that with the concerted efforts of all people, the outbreak of COVID-19 will soon be over.”
